IPL Mega Auctions for IPL 2021
Just after four months from now, the BCCI will host the 14th season of the IPL. After a successful IPL in the UAE during the pandemic, the fans will have high hopes. But before all that happens, the Mega Auction will take place. It was originally expected to take place at the end of this year but all the preparations were thrown out of the window by the pandemic.
BCCI to decide in December
Will the BCCI organize a mega auction or not? The answer to this question remains to be decided. BCCI to take decision on this question in December next month. According to reports, the BCCI has told all 8 team owners that they will take a decision on the Mega Auction in December. Also, will a new team be brought into the IPL next season or not? Decision will be taken on this issue also in December.
Which teams need Mega Auction
If you look at the performance of IPL 2020, if there is a big auction for the next year, then Chennai Super Kings will benefit the most from it. After the last match of the season, MS Dhoni himself has said that in the next auction, CSK will have to stand up to the future. CSK has also pointed out that the BCCI has talked to them on the issue of big auction.
Not only Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore have also been discussed on this issue to BCCI. On the other hand, some teams are not in favor of big auction. According to reports, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are not in favor of mega auction. Now let’s see what the BCCI decides in the meeting to be held in December.
Rules for IPL 2021 Mega Auction
1. A team can retain up to 3 players directly which can have a maximum of 2 overseas recruits.
2. They can also use 2 Right-To-Match cards exclusively at the auction table to get back the desired player who have played for them in the previous year.
3. If a team has already retained 2 foreign players, they can’t use RTM for an overseas player whereas they can use 2 RTMs if they haven’t retained any overseas players or 1 RTM if they have retained a foreign player before auction.
Are We going to see a new team IPL 2021 team as 9th franchise.
There is no official news yet from BCCI, there is a strong possibility that IPL will probably turn into a 9 team tournament in 2021, with a franchise based on Ahmedabad as the 9th team.
